Fall 2013 at the Library

The turkeys in this display were made using brown grocery bags (for the body) and lunch bags (for the legs).  They were fun to make and looked really cute on display!

The next 3 pictures are cards we made at the library card workshop:

Summer Pinterest Craft

This project was copied almost exactly from this pin.  I used the cricut to cut most of the pieces.  To make the "accordion circle" (can't think of what to call it right now) just fold back and forth on the scored lines, overlap and attach the ends, then squash down the center.  (Note to Beth:  You will find little blue circles in the package.  I use these to put a glob of glue on then press the center into it.  You'll have to hold it for a little bit until it dries, but then you'll be able to attach the circle wherever you want on your banner.)  For a finishing touch, I put a little bit of "glitz" on the letters (where the holes were cut) and in the center of the star.

Easter Chick Pinterest Craft

Here is the link for the pin for this project.  I followed the directions almost exactly, except I preferred the smaller paper clips.  I used this template for making the chick (the original pin was a love bird, but I wanted mine to be an Easter chick).  And I made mine two-sided so you can turn it around and see the pink chick or the yellow chick.  I cut both pieces at the same time (if you want you can use removable adhesive to stack them and then just cut around it.  Then I did the same thing with the wing.) Use a little scrap of the yellow patterned paper to make the beak (I did yellow side out for both sides on this and cut it together so they would match up).  Pop up the wings if you want - and add the little black adhesive dots for the eyes.

For the paper clip legs:  Unbend the paper clip as straight as you can then just bend into a little triangle.  I used scotch tape to attach them inside the chick before putting it together.  Then I just played with the height and angle of the triangles a little to get it to stand.

Have fun - and take a picture of all of your cute chicks lined up for me if you think of it!

Valentine Pinterest Craft

I was inspired by this pin.  To make it like I did, remove the back of the frame and place the kraft paper on top of the glass, then put the frame back together.  Next, center the black cardstock on top of the kraft paper and adhere with liquid glass.  I arranged my letters and glued them in place (using liquid glass - don't use too much liquid glass - you don't want it to ooze out and show.  You do have a little time before the glue dries to straighten out your letters, but once it's dry, they're really stuck!).  Finally, I put the heart on the "o" (I did distress the edge of the heart with chocolate ink).

Note to Beth:  I sent 2 hearts in each baggie - that was before I made mine and decided to just do the one heart in place of the "o" ( I was originally going to put 2 hearts in the corner).  Also, I'm not sure if I included a pop dot, but that's how I attached my heart to the scrabble square.  If you have pop dots you can do it that way too or just stick it on with liquid glass.  Have fun!  I can't wait to see everyone else's crafts!!!
